Walnut - Padauk - Soft Maple Wood

A series of compositions made with different wood species, exotic and local, that are scraps and samples. I combined pieces to create balance between colours and shapes, and I used their different volumes to suggest a three-dimensional environment - as they could be mini architecture or landscapes, but also segments of furniture that is part of our daily life. The results are non-representational composition, with a reference to nature in its most abstract form. By taking pictures of these composition I wanted to stress the contrast between the flat two-dimensional medium and the material strength of the wooden pieces and challenge the eye of the viewer to question himself what he’s looking at.
